Nefertari “Terry” Hughes has three rules for surviving high school:
#1 Don’t attract attention.
#2 Don’t get involved.
#3 Don’t make trouble.
Terry is really an average girl that has been thrust into a unimaginable situation. Her parents are world known archaeologists, a career that her mother died for. Terry has been badly scarred and in her mind damaged by an event surrounding the discovery of a sarcophagus, so much so that she lets it rule her new life motto. I would have to akin it to severe depression with a touch of PTSD honestly.
Terry refuses to live in the now, until she is forced to because of a school project in which she meets a trio of unlikely friends that will ultimate make all the difference to her!
The story is a slow build at first, yet the ending is twist after twist!
I found that the speed was perfect, we were able to slowly grow and realize certain things along with Terry at HER pace! Reading about Egyptian history and myth was absolutely enthralling. I must say that ASP of Ascension is a book all in it's own category and I loved it!
