Excerpt
“I need a new voodoo doll.”
With her hands on her hips, her spiral curls bounced as she shook her head and gave me an incredulous look. “Uh, hell to the no; and besides, um yeah, Rosie, what in the world do you need a voodoo doll for?”
I waved my hand in the air. “Oh, you know.” A wicked smile creased my face.  My laughter almost bubbled to the surface at the quizzical look on her face. “Come on Jahane…you remember what we did when we were little.”
"Oh, no, no, Rosie, you are not going to.” Her voice was full of disbelief.
Hysterical laughter exploded from me as I doubled over and held my sides. “No, Jahane, I wanted some fresh fruit. Satsumas to be exact. I missed the sweet taste of that fresh citrus.” My mouth watered at the thought of peeling the green skin off and biting into the sweetness. I heard her sigh in relief and asked, “Do you seriously think I would have done that to you?"
“Well, let’s see…it was you who broke open your piggy bank to exact revenge on the bullies at school.”
Jahane’s response brought long-lost memories to the forefront of my mind. I’d been thrust back in time to days of long ago, and a nervous laugh escaped. “Jahane, you do remember it was your idea to go to the voodoo shop, right?” I cocked my head at her. “And do you remember the look on your mom’s face when she caught us with an assortment of voodoo paraphernalia?”
“Hell, I sure do. My mom was so pissed I thought I would be punished forever.” Then she cackled and imitated her mother. “‘Girls, if you play with voodoo, the spirits will call Marie Laveau herself to reign terror down on y’all.” She laughed so hard at the memory she had to wipe tears from her face.

Author Information
As a young girl, Diana Marie Dubois was an avid reader and was often found in the local public library. Now you find her working in her local library. Hailing from the culture filled state of Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans; she lives with her three Great Danes and four spunky mutts.  Her biggest inspiration has always been the infamous Anne Rice and her tales of Vampires. It was those very stories that inspired Diana to take hold of her dreams and begin writing. She is now working on her first series, Voodoo Vows.

My Review
*I was provided a complementary copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Voodoo Vows" is an intreaguing journey.  Rosie finds herself in a world she thought only exsisted in stories and legends.  her mother is missing, her new dog is more than a great dane, and the man she loves may be more than the gorgous adonis she thought he was.  This book is based in the beautiful and mysterious city of New Orleans and the city and its legends and myths are really the main character.  The author paints a story of mystery, magic and yes voodoo.  There is a surprise around every corner as Rosie learns that all the stories she knows about ghosts and magic is only the tip of the iceberg.
If you are like me and enjoy a good story about magic, ghosts and the amazing and notorious city of NOLA than this is the book for you!
Happy Reading!
