The Rapture of Avery Maye by Ema Volf- Review

Goodreads description-

Orphaned at thirteen, Avery Maye spent most of her life keeping her head down and blending into the shadows, trying to survive in a world bent on self-destruction through warfare and a never-ending quest for power. Unable to trust any but herself, her only friend was an apparition named Alec.

Ten years later, she fell asleep in the home she’d always known, only to wake in a new world, galaxies away. She soon discovered that her imaginary friend, Alec, was not an apparition at all, but very much real, as were the creatures from her best dreams and the monsters from her worst nightmares.

Overnight, she gains everything she ever wanted and more: a new home, new friends, and powers beyond her imagination. On a new path to self-discovery, while learning lessons in love and loss, Avery is finally given the opportunity to do more than simply survive. She can finally start living.

But in every paradise lurks a snake. Her new found peace is rattled by the arrival of a pair of mysterious visitors from the world she has been fighting to forget. Will they bring the fate of Earth down on her new refuge?

Ema Volf
Ema lives in Northwest Arkansas with her husband, son, cat, two dogs, and chinchilla. She spends her days trying to balance the never-ending work of a homemaker and the schedules of all members of her household while remaining relatively sane.
An avid reader, what time she has to herself is usually spent buried in the pages of a book. She enjoys nearly every genre, but particularly enjoys paranormal fiction of all types and age ranges.

While she constantly has stories and characters rolling around in her head, Avery called to her the loudest. After several months of conversing with Avery, Ema decided to put pen to paper and let others visit Eirny and its beloved residents.

I was given this ebook for free by the author for an honest review.

I will personally rate this book 5 out of 5 stars!

I absolutely LOVED this book!
I will say that The Rapture of Avery Maye has been added to my top 3 favorites!
Where to begin???
Avery is an orphan living in a war ravaged Earth just struggling to survive, when she is rather suddenly rescued and brought to a strange but wonderful new planet.  She reunites with a friend she never knew if he was real or not and she meets her rescuer along with a lot of new friends.
Avery really comes into her own and is able to learn and grow as she was unable to on Earth all the while she learns there is more to her and her own abilities.
First off, the story is engaging, I didn't want to put it down.  I really felt the urgency of Avery's struggle, especially after she made her new friends.  I really like how we can get a better grasp through the mind sharing aspect of the story, so that we get to see a couple of different POV's as we go along.
There are some serious surprise characters that I was in no way expecting.  Without adding spoilers I will just say, that the different types of "people" are a fabulous addition to the story line.  Volf makes you think from a different perspective, to see an alternate to the reality that we think we already know.
Character development was nearly flawless.  As you read, you will not only learn about the characters present, why they choose to make the decisions they make, but you also get to see into their pasts to understand how they became who they actually are and what drives them.
I really did love how Avery sees the best in everyone and she works to make sure that no one is treated unfairly or left behind.  She finds that she is a true leader and it's amazing to see how her story actually begins at the end of the book.
We are left with a cliffhanger that was so beautifully written and I absolutely can not wait to read more!!!

After you read The Rapture of Avery Maye, you can already purchase book 2 in
The Chronicles of Eirny series, Blood of Eirny for $2.99
